LESSON 9: SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS

  1. Know that STIs are transmitted through all forms of sexual activity. 

  2. Discuss the most common bacterial, viral, and protozoal STIs and their many serious consequences including warts, sores, pain, discharge, infertility, some types of cancer, and even death.

  3. Know facts regarding STIs and demonstrate how to access reliable information.

  4. Understand methods of prevention with a focus on abstinence from sexual activity as the only 100% protective strategy.

  5. Understand the importance of seeking care if sexually active, how and where to access care, and the importance of talking to a family member or other trusted adult.
