LESSON 8: WHY WAIT? PREGNANCY, PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES, STIs, and EMOTIONAL ISSUES

  1. Describe the pregnancy process including fetal development and growth, delivery, the postpartum period, and the physical and emotional changes that occur.

  2. Understand the consequences of being a teen parent and the many parental responsibilities.

  3. List the common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and their health consequences.

  4. Know the emotional consequences of sexual activity as a young teenager.

  5. Understand that abstinence from sexual activity is the only 100% protective strategy.

  6. Demonstrate and verbalize the many reasons to not be sexually active.
