“I Upset Me!”
(Join Us: 91-Day Life-Changing Challenge)
Hello LWA Seekers of Greater Well-BEing!
You might be asking: “What’s this ‘I Upset Me!’ all about?” You might be thinking: “I don’t upset me. Other people / events upset me.” Nope. YOU UPSET YOU! Yep! It’s FACT! Hang with me because if you do, your life will reach levels you never thought possible. We can all find ourselves at times a bit stressed out, frustrated, worried, not totally at ease with some aspect of life. Most people would say “Well, that’s normal.” Why? Because we have all been programmed since birth for disappointment, discontent, difficulty, worry, grief, inadequacy – think of any negative thought / emotion. It’s a program – in the left brain.
Does it have to be this way? NO! At ANY moment, under any life circumstance, no matter what our past or current experiences, we have the POWER to STOP and question the “upset” program which is subconsciously running wild under the radar. According to Harvard neuroanatomist Dr Jill Bolte Taylor, once we recognize the negative thought we are thinking and feeling, we have the ability to CHOOSE to think and feel - and act - differently. If we STOP and question the negative thinking and feeling, we STOP that negative nerve pathway and all the destructive neurochemicals and reactions affecting all our body systems. Dr JBT states it takes about 90 seconds to clear those negative chemicals – as long as we don’t keep running the same negative circuitry (through our negative thoughts) over and over. She calls it a B.R.A.I.N. Huddle: Breathe a few seconds, Recognize your thinking/feeling, Appreciate your left brain’s desire to try to help you, Inquire within the right brain for a better innovative approach, and Navigate the new thinking. I’ll be going over how to simply apply this key strategy to greater peace and joy in our lives UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE during this week’s webinar. I’ll give several examples to show the peace and joy it can bring. It’s AMAZINGLY simple and effective – if you’re OPEN to having a better life!
Science has shown that through NEUROPLASTICITY (rewiring the neuronal circuity), we have the POWER to CHANGE the ANATOMY (structure) and PHYSIOLOGY (functioning) of our BRAIN. Yes, you read that correctly: We can CHANGE the ANATOMY and PHYSIOLOGY of our BRAIN. HOW? With our THINKING. Now, this is crazy great stuff. We are our BRAIN. We are our THINKING. Our thinking changes the structure and functioning of our brain. CHANGE YOUR THINKING, CHANGE YOUR BRAIN, CHANGE YOUR LIFE! Having difficulty making changes in some aspect of your life (physical, emotional, social, financial, spiritual - - ALL of the above!)? You’ve got to CHANGE YOUR BRAIN. To quote Albert Einstein: We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them. We need NEW THINKING creating a NEW BRAIN with new hardwired improved programs that run automatically.
We keep updating our cars, houses, furniture, clothes, appliances, computers, phones, etc etc etc. We need to UPDATE OUR BRAIN with improved programs for greater health, happiness, productivity, vitality, creativity, PEACE, and LOVE! Doing so, we get closer to the life God created us to experience.
What does it require? It necessitates we use our ENTIRE BRAIN: 1.) editing dysfunctional pathways that are leading to depression, disease, and disability and 2.) utilizing programs for health and happiness that are available to ALL of us! This is one of the hottest areas of wellness. Yes, we need to Make Movement Mandatory daily, Critique Caloric Consumption, have Normal Numbers Now, and all the other 11 LWA Essential Elements to Health and Happiness. We need to install Living WELL Aware brain circuit pathways that are created through repetitive THOUGHTS and resultant ACTIONS, so that they run automatically, subconsciously. New Thinking, New Brain, NEW YOU!
THE PROBLEM: If we don’t understand WHY we think, feel, and act the way we do, it’s going to be a struggle to make long-standing, life-improving changes in ALL areas of our lives. FACT: How we use our brain determines our health and happiness: physically, emotionally, socially, financially, and spiritually. To quote Dr JBT: “Peace is a thought away.” What if we lived life knowing we were created to have a life of Peace and Joy, knowing that it was possible. Let’s question the old saying: “I’ll believe it when I see it.” WRONG! When we BELIEVE it, we will SEE it! Question. Trust. Believe. For many of us, this truly is a spiritual journey. We understand that our connection with a Higher Power, with everyone and all creation, is the source of our fulfillment in life.
We can find ourselves creating a “hell on earth” – with our thinking. I constantly remind myself: It’s NOT what that person did or that unexpected, unwanted event that happened that upset me. I Upset Me! I chose to be upset. WHY? It’s my decades of life programming – by well-meaning parents / family members, friends, society. But now, I’m Living WELL Aware! I can STOP, recognize that negative thinking and the resultant feeling is just a program that I’m running automatically. I can choose to continue to run that program OR choose to have greater health, happiness, peace, and joy by stopping that program and running a better one – which happens to be located in a different part of my brain. Understand your brain. Understand your life.
NOTE: I get it. People may treat us unkindly or wrong us in some way. That’s reality. No one is perfect, meeting the expectations of everyone. Life may not play out like the left brain has planned - - I truly get that! Living WELL Aware is knowing we always get to CHOOSE how we are going to deal with people and events. Our health and happiness is on the line. Let’s CHOOSE WISELY. Let’s create a NEW, IMPROVED BRAIN. IT’S TIME TO UPGRADE.
